The U.S. President, Joe Biden, has invited President-elect, Donald Trump, for a meeting at the White House on Wednesday.
In a short statement on Saturday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, said, โat President Bidenโs invitation, President Biden and President-Elect Trump will meet in the Oval Office on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Additional details to follow.โ
The meeting which is a tradition between the incoming and outgoing presidents has always been held except in 2020 when Trump was to hand over to Biden, as he failed to invite Biden to the White House.
Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in Tuesdayโs presidential election.
The meeting is centered around transition, foreign and domestic policy as well as economic and security issues.
Earlier in the week, Biden revealed that he had reached out toTrump to congratulate him on his victory at the polls and assure him of a peaceful transition.
โThe will of the people always prevail, We accept the choice the country madeโ the outgoing president had said in reaction to the outcome of the poll.
Biden charged all Americans to show love for country and for one another, regardless of political orientation and hailed the American electoral system as being credible and transparent.
