The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized counterfeit wines valued at ₦41.2 million in a recent operation across Nasarawa State.
The raid targeted various wine shops in Mararaba Market, New Nyanya, and Masaka, as part of NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts to combat the sale of adulterated alcohol products in Nigeria.
The agency revealed the details of the operation on Monday via a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement team is actively working to trace the importers and manufacturers behind the seized counterfeit wines.
“NAFDAC has conducted a major raid on wine shops in Mararaba Market and the New Nyanya and Masaka areas of Nasarawa State. The operation targeted counterfeit and adulterated wines and spirits, resulting in the seizure of products valued at over ₦41.2 million,” the statement read.
The agency also called on the public to be vigilant and report suspicious products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
“Consumers are urged to report any suspected counterfeit products for immediate action,” NAFDAC added.
The raid is part of NAFDAC’s broader initiative to safeguard public health by removing counterfeit goods from the market and ensuring consumer access to safe, authentic products.
