The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has issued an important update to its numerous customers regarding inactivity and dormant accounts.
In a message sent to customers on Wednesday, UBA stated that in line with a directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), savings accounts that had not been used for a specified period would now be classified as inactive or dormant.
The bank said accounts with no transactions for six months would be marked as inactive, while if inactivity continued, accounts would become dormant after 12 months.
“However, there was good news. Customers could keep their accounts active by making a transaction on the UBA Mobile Banking App, Internet Banking, Leo, *919#, or by visiting any UBA branch,” the bank said.
The bank assured customers that their funds remained safe and secure and that to keep an account active, a transaction simply needed to be made.
