Acting Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 9, Umuahia, DCP Reuben Abiola has commended the Leadership of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Zone 9,Umuahia, for living up to their social responsibility by demonstrating love for the welfare of widows of Police Officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the Service of Nigeria.
The Acting AIG who made the commendation on Thursday, during the presentation of household items for the upkeep of the widows in Zone 9, Umuahia, through the President of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Mrs Esther Orji, urged other Members of the PCRC across the Country, to emulate the shining examples of the Dr Collins Obi led PCRC.
Speaking while presenting the items, Dr Collins Obi who also appreciated the leadership roles of the Executive Members for making the gesture a success, and recalled that he had extended such philanthropic gestures, over the years
He prayed God to touch the heart of well to do in the Society to emulate such gestures by showing love to the less privileged and widows of security Officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the course of serving the Country to cushion the trauma they are facing as a result of the loss of their breadwinners.
โThese widows have lost so much, and it is our duty to stand by them. We should know that helping them is not just an act of kindness, but a responsibility we should all share,โ he said.
Receiving the items ,the President of POWA Mrs Esther Orji, lauded the Chairman of PCRC ,Zone 9 Umuahia, Dr Collins Obi, for the gesture and prayed to God to bless and reward him abundantly. She assured all that the provisions would be put to good and effective use.
