“Midfielder only in an emergency” – Former Lazio striker suggests best role for Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru

Former Italy and Lazio striker, Bruno Giordano, has shared his thoughts on how Marco Baro Baroni’s side can get the best out of Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Ayodele-Bashiru, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 23-year-old joined Lazio on loan from Hatayspor during the last transfer window, with an option to buy at the end of his loan spell included in the deal. However the former Manchester City midfielder has played just seven games in all competitions for Le Aquile.

Giodarno, who donned the Lazio jersey between 1975 and 1985 has revealed the Nigerian international is struggling for places in the Lazio lineup because he’s being misprofiled.

“I think Dele-Bashiru can be a midfielder only in an emergency and is more naturally, as we also see with the Nigerian national team, a player accustomed to playing in the three-quarters, in case of absences in midfield he can be an alternative in case of various injuries.

He is a player inclined to play facing the opponent’s goal, he can be adaptable but Vecino can also play in the three-quarters.

It depends on the type of match and the choices the coach wants to make, the important thing is to have players who allow you to change,” the 68-year-old said in an interview with Radio Laziale as revealed by Noibiancocelesti.

Lazio are currently fifth on the Serie A table, just a point behind league leaders, Napoli. Atalanta, Fiorentina, and Inter Milan are level on Lazio.
