The Seme Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched an investigation into a viral video showing officers allegedly abusing civilians.

In a statement by the Commandโ€™s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Hussaini Abdullahi, Customs Area Comptroller Kayode Kolade confirmed the immediate withdrawal of the implicated officers for questioning.

โ€œThis step is to ensure appropriate disciplinary measures are taken,โ€ the statement read.

Kolade expressed empathy for the victims and described the alleged actions as inconsistent with the Serviceโ€™s values. He pledged that the findings of the investigation would be made public.

The Command also encouraged stakeholders and the public along the Lagos-Abidjan Corridor to continue their lawful activities. It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for legitimate trade.
