Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State on Wednesday presented a budget proposal of N1,054,542,020,147.47 (N1.055 trillion) to the State House of Assembly for 2025 Fiscal year.
Tagged the โBudget of Hope and Prosperityโ, Abiodun said that the budget would address the current challenges facing the state as it would also economic as well as reducing inequality and improve citizensโ wellbeing.
Presenting the budget before the Speaker, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state Capital, the governor said that the budget seeks to balance fiscal responsibility with improved public service delivery.
He said that the budget prioritizes infrastructure, healthcare, housing, security, education, youth empowerment, job creation, and agriculture, with policies designed to drive recovery and transformation during economic turbulence.
Abiodun said that the proposed expenditure comprises N453.56 billion as recurrent and N600.98 billion as Capital with highlights including: Personnel Costs of N120.14B; Consolidated Revenue Cost of N37.49B; Public Debt Charge of N76.07B; Overhead Cost of N219.86B; Capital Expenditure of N600.98B.
Giving the breakdown of the budget, the governor said that Education gulp 177.835B(17%); Health at 134.538B(13%); Housing & Community Development at 66.382B(6%); Agriculture and Industry is 65.387B(6%); Infrastructure put at 284.456B(27%); Recreation, Culture and Religion is 25.274B(2%); Social Protection scores 39.836B(4%)

He mentioned key capital projects for 2025 budget to include: Renovation of General and State Hospitals and Purchase ofLaboratory & Medical Equipment across the State; Revitalization of Eighty (80) Primary Health Centers and Procurement of Laboratory and Medical Equipment across all Primary Health Facilities in the State and Construction of roads across the state.
Others are: Procurement and energizing of transformers; Construction of Fire Stations across the State; Upgrading of Rural Roads across the State; Construction of Redline Metro Rail Extension, Agbado-Kajola; Blueline Metro Rail Extension at Okokomaiko-Agbara/Lusada; Purpleline Metro Rail line mowe iperu; Construction of the Ogun Lodge Government House, Abuja
viii. Rehabilitation of 150km feeder roads across the State; Construction of the OGIRS Revenue house and Construction of a modern Court of Appeal.
Abiodun, however, expressed optimism at the 2025 appropriation bill presentation, saying that with determination and confidence efforts of his administration would advance growth and prosperity in the state for needed development to take place.
Earlier, the Speaker, Elemide, said that Assembly considered 14 bills, passed nine bills while 32 motions were passed into resolutions.
He, thanked Abiodun for renovating the Assembly complex, promising that the appropriation bill would be accorded accelerated passage.
