Persons Living with Disabilities in Kaduna continue to pressure the state government to correct unfair treatment against them in the state’s proposed budget for 2025.
The group says the unfair treatment is an affront to its members.
In a memoranda to the House Committee on Public affairs which is signed by Garba Abdullahi, titled, ‘Reinstatement of the Disability Trust Fund in the 2025 Kaduna State Budget’, which is in possession of NewsNGR, the group under the auspices of Joint National Association of People With Disabilities, (JONAPWD), said the omission of the trust fund is capable of causing untold hardship and increasing the suffering of its members in the State.
It can be recalled that the association last week while appearing before the same committee, rejected funds proposed for it in next year’s budget on the grounds that it is too meagre to take care of its growing needs.
The group, in its latest request, calls for the reinstatement of the trust fund which it said was instituted to provide financial support and empowerment to its members.
‘Its removal will have severe consequences on the lives of persons with disabilities’, the group argues in its submission to the House.
We urge you to reconsider this decision and reconsider the reinstatement of the Disability Trust Fund in the 2025 Kaduna State,” the group submits.
