The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Command, has urged motorists to exercise caution following a crash on Kara Bridge, Berger, along the Ibadan-bound section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The incident, which occurred early Wednesday, involved a trailer carrying containers that fell, narrowing the lanes and causing severe traffic congestion.
In a statement issued by the Lagos Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat, the FRSC called for calm and cooperation from road users to ease the situation.
“We remain committed to ensuring the safety of all road users. We urge the public to cooperate with traffic officials on the ground and avoid actions that could worsen the traffic situation,” the statement read.
The agency also highlighted that some impatient drivers worsened the gridlock by driving against the traffic flow on the Lagos-bound section of the expressway, further disrupting movement in both directions.
The FRSC assured the public that efforts were underway to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow.
