Ghana 0-0 Nigeria: CHAN Qualifiers First Leg Ends in Stalemate

The first leg of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers between Ghana and Nigeria ended in a goalless draw in Accra.

Both sides failed to find the back of the net in a tightly contested encounter that saw few clear-cut chances but plenty of determination from the home-based players on both sides.

The Nigerian side, known as the Home-Based Super Eagles, showed resilience in dealing with Ghanaโ€™s attacking threats, especially in the second half when the hosts ramped up their offensive efforts.

Goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo was outstanding for Nigeria, making crucial saves to keep his side in the game.

Despite their defensive solidity, Nigeria struggled to create significant goal-scoring opportunities, with their attack often breaking down in the final third.

The likes of Sunday Faleye and Chijioke Akuneto worked tirelessly to penetrate Ghanaโ€™s defense but were ultimately frustrated by a well-organized backline.

With the result, all eyes now shift to the return leg in Uyo next weekend, where the Home-Based Super Eagles will have the advantage of home support as they look to secure a spot in the CHAN tournament.
