The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with key stakeholders, has welcomed 392 Nigerians repatriated from Niger at the Immigration Training School on Airport Road, Kano.
In a statement posted on its X handle on Monday, NEMA revealed, “The group arrived at approximately 3:05 PM and included 176 adult males, 122 adult females, and 94 children—78 boys and 16 girls. Returnees were profiled and registered for proper documentation and access to necessary support.”
The repatriation effort involved multiple agencies, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Others include, the Nigerian Immigration Services, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
This latest arrival follows the reception of 148 returnees from Niger in November by NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office.
Those included 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants.
The return was facilitated by the IOM’s mission in Niger, with all returnees receiving profiling and support upon arrival.
