Social media influencer and commentator, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has disclosed a shocking incident of fraud involving his NGO’s account.
Otse revealed on Friday in an Instagram video that over ₦180 million was stolen from the account following a hacking incident.
“Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing,” Otse lamented. “Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”
He further explained that the NGO’s account is now under Post No Debit (PND) restrictions, with only ₦20 million remaining.
“₦160 million was diverted, but we’re heading to Jos to recover the money,” he assured followers.
In response to the breach, the NGO’s app has been temporarily shut down for maintenance to prevent further unauthorized access.
Otse promised to keep donors and supporters updated on the ongoing recovery efforts.
The Martins Vincent Osei Initiative, launched in October, garnered significant public support, amassing over ₦35 million in donations within hours.
The campaign received a major boost when renowned music producer Don Jazzy contributed ₦100 million.
The incident has sparked widespread concern on social media, with many calling for increased security measures for online fundraising platforms.
