Enyimba Secure Brown Ideye’s Signature Until End of Season

Nine-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba FC, have confirmed the signing of former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, until the end of the current season.

The Aba giants made the announcement via a statement on their official X handle on Monday.

The club expressed excitement over the addition of the 36-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving Kuwaiti side Al Yarmouk in 2022.

Enyimba’s statement highlighted the valuable experience and professionalism Ideye will bring to the team, especially as they aim to turn around their fortunes under new head coach Stanley Eguma.

“We are delighted to officially announce the addition of former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye to our fold,” the statement read.

“We are expectant of the experience & professionalism he will add to our game/quest in our remaining games, this season especially under the New Gaffer.”

Ideye’s return to the domestic league comes 17 years after he left Ocean Boys for Europe, where he had stints with Neuchâtel Xamax, Sochaux, and Dynamo Kyiv.

His move to Enyimba strengthens their attacking options as they look to bounce back from a recent dip in form.

The club has struggled in recent games, going nine matches without a win, which led to the dismissal of head coach Yemi Olarenwaju and the appointment of Stanley Eguma.

Ideye joins fellow former international teammates Ahmed Musa and Abdullahi Shehu, who are currently plying their trade at Kano Pillars in the Nigerian Premier League.

Enyimba will hope that the addition of Ideye provides the spark needed to get their campaign back on track as they push for success in the remainder of the season.
