NIGERIAN forward Gift Orban is close to completing a switch from Lyon in France to Hoffenheim in Germany.
According to French outlet L’Équipe, Orban is in the final stages of sealing the move for around €10 million.
The 22-year-old striker, who is yet to play for the Super Eagles but has been invited before, is expected to sign a contract until 2029 with the Bundesliga club.
According to various reports, Lyon are being forced to sell players this January in order to avoid relegation over financial issues.
The club were handed a provisional relegation to Ligue 2 by the authorities in November and in order to avoid that fate, they must sell players before the end of the campaign.
Orban is one of the players set to be sold, especially as there is interest in the Nigerian striker.
Orban has been on the fringes at Lyon since his arrival last January from Gent for a fee of €14m.
RC Lens and Galatasaray had also both been strongly linked with a move for Orban, who has made only five appearances for Lyon in all competitions and scored two goals.
Before his switch to Lyon, Orban was in excellent form at Gent, registering 32 goals and two assists in 52 appearances.
