THE Super Eagles B of Nigeria will get to know their African Nations Championship (CHAN) group stage opponents on Wednesday next week when the draw for the competition will be conducted.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the draw date today, stating that it will be held at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.
This year’s CHAN, which is actually the eighth edition meant for 2024, will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania from February 1 to February 28.
The Super Eagles B squad will make a return to the tournament reserved for home-based players after missing the 2020 and 2022 editions.
In the CHAN 2024 playoffs, Nigeria defeated Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 on aggregate.
Nigeria’s best outing in the competition so far was at the 2018 edition when they reached the final before losing 4-0 to hosts Morocco.
The team finished third on their debut at the 2014 edition in South Africa under the guidance of the late Stephen Keshi.
Other countries that qualified for this year’s tournament include champions Senegal, Congo, DR Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Libya, Morocco and Namibia.
Zambia, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Mali, Burkina, Niger Republic and Togo will also be taking part.
