The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted over ₦6 billion to the federal government as part of its operating surplus from the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This contribution brings the total amount remitted to over ₦50 billion in the past seven years under the leadership of Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar/Chief Executive.

In its 2024 financial report, JAMB revealed it generated ₦22.99 billion in income, spending ₦18.19 billion on UTME administration, service providers, and staff expenses.

JAMB also highlighted its ongoing commitment to financial transparency, noting it has consistently shared weekly income and expenditure reports since 2017.

The Board underscored the 2024 achievement, citing its dedication to accountability and its ongoing effort to improve its operations.

JAMB’s 2024 remittance includes ₦6.03 billion to the government, with a further ₦1,500 reduction in application fees benefiting candidates.

Reflecting on its success, JAMB noted its significant reforms under Prof. Oloyede, including the reduction in application costs and its efforts to combat fake degrees and certificates in collaboration with agencies like the NYSC.

Prof. Oloyede’s leadership has been recognised by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, and the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) for its exemplary management and contributions to national development.

Looking ahead to 2025, JAMB reiterated its commitment to financial responsibility, transparency, and fairness in the admission process.
