Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has revealed her deep regret over advocating for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body, a decision she now describes as fraught with unforeseen complications.
In an interview with Biola Bayo on the Talk to B podcast, the mother of two opened up about her dismay over the prolonged burial process and the mounting family disputes surrounding the late artist.
“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” she admitted.
“He hasn’t been buried till now. His dad says he wants a DNA test done, and I heard the court has granted his request. But I heard his dad has conditions again.
“I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death. I did my best to be sure that everyone was investigated, but when they came up with different theories, DNA became more important to them.”
The tragic saga began when Mohbad passed away under controversial circumstances on the 12th of September, 2023, and was buried the following day.
However, on the 21st of September, 2023, his body was exhumed by the Lagos State Police for an autopsy to uncover the cause of his untimely death.
In October 2023, the late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, introduced another twist to the story, insisting that Mohbad’s reburial would only occur after a DNA test was conducted to confirm the paternity of the singer’s son, Liam.
