Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has announced his resignation after nine years in office.
Trudeau stepped down from his role as the leader of Canada’s ruling Liberal Party on Monday, ahead of the party caucus meeting on Wednesday.
Trudeau’s resignation comes after a series of gloomy polls prompted an increased number of Liberal lawmakers to publicly urge him to quit.
