The Chief Press Secretary to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Sir Festus Ahon, has dismissed rumours suggesting the governor is planning to defect to another political party.
In a statement issued on Monday in Asaba, Ahon described the speculation as false and the creation of opposition elements intimidated by the governor’s growing popularity and efforts to foster unity across political lines.
“The Governor has no reason to defect to any other party given his wide acceptance in the PDP and strong followership among well-meaning Deltans and residents,” Ahon stated.
“He remains focused on delivering the MORE Agenda to all Deltans, as he promised during his campaigns.”
Ahon added that Governor Oborevwori would continue to work with the federal government to ensure the development of Delta State and the nation as a whole.
He urged residents to disregard the rumours, calling them the work of mischief makers and fifth columnists.
