Lagos Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Assaulting 3-Year-Old Pupil, Granted N200,000 Bail

Stella Nwadigbo, a teacher at Christ Mitot School in Lagos, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The case was heard on Thursday at the Ikeja Chief Magistratesโ€™ Court.

Nwadigbo was arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command after being caught on camera assaulting a three-year-old pupil. The incident occurred on January 7 at Christ Mitot School in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, where Nwadigbo resides.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the teacher was filmed slapping and punching the young boy while teaching him to write numerals. The actions allegedly violated Sections 135 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Chief Magistrate O. Kushanu granted Nwadigbo bail in the sum of โ‚ฆ200,000 with two sureties of like amount. The case has been adjourned until February 18 for mention.
