Two factory workers who were rescued after being trapped in a diesel reservoir in the Ikosi area of Lagos State have been confirmed dead.
NewsNGR reported that the workers were rescued by officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Fire Service.
In a statement by LASEMAโs Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Oke-Osanyintolu explained that the victims fell into the reservoir while conducting repair work. Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the victims accidentally fell into the reservoir, while the second victim fell while attempting to rescue his colleague.
The LASEMA official noted that the victims were evacuated and transported to the hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, both were confirmed dead upon arrival.
He stated, โThe two male adults rescued earlier this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated, and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, later died despite sustained medical efforts.
โNo further updates on the development, and operations have been concluded,โ he added.
