Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Bazir village in Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, killing two brothers and setting fire to a church and residential houses.
The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, while villagers were asleep.
The attackers looted food crops and livestock before torching the properties, according to local sources.
A resident, Mr. James Ayuba, who escaped unharmed, recounted the ordeal: “It was by God’s Grace that we escaped unhurt, but our house was set ablaze completely after the terrorists looted our agricultural produce.”
He appealed for urgent government intervention. “I am calling on the government and security agencies to take urgent action to address the renewed attacks in Southern Borno.
“Our people, especially those in Chibok, deserve to live in peace and safety, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that they are protected and secured.”
This attack comes days after terrorists invaded Njilang village in the same Chibok area, displacing the entire community.
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South), whose constituency includes Chibok, recently expressed concern over the resurgence of attacks in Borno State, particularly in Damboa and neighbouring areas.
Attempts to confirm the incident with the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful at press time.
