Farmers Demand Release of 394 Tiv Corpses Allegedly Killed in Nasarawa Attacks

The Association of United Farmers of Benue Valley (AUFBV) has made an impassioned plea for the release of 394 corpses of Tiv farmers, allegedly slain by a militia group in Keana Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.

During a visit to the residence of Ter Tyoshin, His Royal Highness Daniel Abomtse, in Naka, Gwer West LGA of Benue State, AUFBV President Denen Utsa recounted the harrowing details of the killings, which spanned from June 2024 to January 2025.

โ€œThe farmers, mostly Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), were reportedly attacked in their homes by Alago militia armed with various weapons,โ€ Utsa disclosed.

Utsa revealed that the first reports of the tragedy emerged on the 26th of June, 2024, when security agencies informed the group about a communal clash.

โ€œSeveral persons were killed, others injured, and many remain unaccounted for,โ€ he said, highlighting the devastation left in the wake of the attacks.

The AUFBV delegation urged Ter Tyoshin to champion their cause, underscoring the anguish of families yearning for closure.

โ€œWe are calling for the release of 394 corpses of Tiv farmers killed in Keana LGA of Nasarawa State. These were innocent lives taken in senseless attacks,โ€ Utsa stressed.

In his response, Chief Abomtse expressed profound grief over the plight of Tiv farmers and condemned the relentless violence in the region. He joined the call for the release of the bodies, urging all relevant authorities to bring justice to the bereaved families.
