NAF Team Meets Zamfara Gov Over Tungar Kara Air Strike Incident

On Tuesday, the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Lawal, received a team from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) at the Government House, led by Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Coordination and Cooperation of the Civil-Military Relations Branch in the NAF.

The visit follows the tragic airstrike that struck Tungar Kara, a community in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on January 11, which resulted in the deaths of over 16 residents.

In a statement issued by Olusola Akinboyewa, the NAFโ€™s Director of Public Relations and Information, Gabkwet emphasized the NAFโ€™s commitment to professionalism and transparency in all of its operations.

The NAF team leader further informed the governor that the officers were in the state to conduct a thorough and objective investigation into the incident.

Following their meeting with Governor Lawal, the NAF officers traveled to the site of the airstrike in Tungar Kara to assess the situation firsthand.

The military had initially denied reports of civilian casualties but later retracted this statement after further investigation, confirming the tragic loss of life.

The NAFโ€™s visit and subsequent assessment reflect its efforts to ensure accountability and maintain trust with the public regarding military operations.
