A devastating accident occurred at Okete Village in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State along the Otukpo/Oweto Expressway, when a truck collided with a building, killing nine members of a family and injuring several others.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday while the victims were asleep in their home. Eyewitnesses confirmed that all nine family members died instantly.
Although the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, sources suggest that over-speeding by the truck driver may have contributed to the crash.
Confirming the tragic event, Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, told newsmen that she had just received the information on her mobile phone and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.
