Suspected cable vandal electrocuted in Adamawa

An unidentified man was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with electrical cables at a transformer near Ribadu Square in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

The incident, which occurred on January 19, 2025, around 6:00 AM, was confirmed in a statement by SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command. According to Nguroje, the deceasedโ€™s body has been moved to the hospital as part of an ongoing investigation.

Reports suggest the man was attempting to vandalize the transformer when he came into contact with a live current, resulting in an electric shock that left him unconscious and ultimately led to his death.

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has issued a strong warning to residents about the dangers of tampering with electrical installations. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities around transformers or power facilities to the authorities immediately.
