An unidentified man was electrocuted while attempting to tamper with electrical cables at a transformer near Ribadu Square in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
The incident, which occurred on January 19, 2025, around 6:00 AM, was confirmed in a statement by SP Suleiman Nguroje, spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command. According to Nguroje, the deceased’s body has been moved to the hospital as part of an ongoing investigation.
Reports suggest the man was attempting to vandalize the transformer when he came into contact with a live current, resulting in an electric shock that left him unconscious and ultimately led to his death.
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has issued a strong warning to residents about the dangers of tampering with electrical installations. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities around transformers or power facilities to the authorities immediately.
