President Bola Tinubu on Thursday assured Nigerian Army officers and soldiers that their welfare would remain a top priority under his administration.

Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Barracks” in Abuja, the President emphasised that the project demonstrated the government’s commitment to improving troops’ welfare, including the provision of adequate office and residential facilities.

“You are our heroes, and I thank you for what you have been doing for this country,” Tinubu said. He commended the Chief of Army Staff for the vision behind the barracks and acknowledged the efforts of all who contributed to its timely completion.

He added, “What you all are doing for us is extremely remarkable and appreciated. The only way we can show this is through continued support for the men and women in uniform.”

The President also paid tribute to the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for his contributions to the development of the Nigerian Army.

In his remarks, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff, reaffirmed the army’s dedication to upholding Nigeria’s constitution and supporting the nation’s democracy.

Oluyede pledged the army’s steadfast support for the Tinubu administration’s efforts to enhance the country’s socio-economic and security landscape.
