NNPC, BUA to build mini gas plants in Kogi

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited will today inaugurate the construction of five mini-liquefied natural gas plants in Kogi State.

This was as the NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd and BUA Group signed a shareholders’ agreement for the development of a 45 million standard cubic feet mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta.

The five mini-LNG plants are Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete.

According to the NNPC, the groundbreaking ceremony will be held today at Ajaokuta by noon, saying it is an important step in catalysing Nigeria’s economic growth.

The plants were said to be designed to deliver affordable and cleaner energy to businesses and industries across Nigeria.

They are also expected to drive industrial growth, attract investors, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

On Tuesday, NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd and BUA Group signed the agreement to develop the 45 mmscf mini-LNG plant in Ajaokuta.

The agreement was described as part of efforts to enhance domestic gas utilisation for businesses and industries.

According to the NNPCL, the signing ceremony, held at the NGML headquarters in Abuja, was attended by the BUA Group Executive Director, Kabiru Rabiu, and the Group Chief Legal Officer, Oluseye Alayande, alongside the NGML management team, led by Justin Ezeala.

“This project is set to drive economic growth, support the gas-to-power initiative, and contribute significantly to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape,” the NNPCL disclosed.
