MAAUN Kano Matriculates 1,241, Including Students from 7 Countries
Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano, on Wednesday matriculated 1,241 newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session, including 192 international students.
The event, held at the Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed Twin Lecture Theatre, marked the fourth matriculation ceremony since the university’s establishment in 2021. Dignitaries, including parents, government officials, traditional rulers, and other well-wishers, attended the occasion.
In his address, MAAUN President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammed Israr, described the ceremony as the official enrollment of students into the university’s academic programs as approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He congratulated the new students and urged them to embrace self-discipline and focus on their studies.
“MAAUN has now come of age with a strategic vision to offer students the best in cutting-edge research and service delivery in science, leadership, and management,” he stated.
Prof. Israr highlighted that the university’s global appeal is evident in the enrollment of foreign students from Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Chad, Benin Republic, Sudan, Pakistan, and Lebanon.
“The vision of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano, is a lofty one. I call on everyone to join the Founder of the university and his team of sound academics and intellectuals to see to the fulfillment and further expansion of the university,” he added.
The Founder of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, urged the matriculating students to take their studies seriously, emphasizing that failure to meet academic standards could lead to dismissal.
He encouraged them to be proud of their affiliation with MAAUN, given the institution’s strong intellectual and material investments.
“The university is committed to providing quality education to produce graduates who will become future leaders,” he noted.
In his goodwill message, Dr. Shu’aibu Tanko, Vice President of Administration, MAAUN Maradi, Niger Republic, advised the students to be good ambassadors of both the university and Nigeria.
He stressed that MAAUN not only imparts knowledge but also equips students with essential skills for self-reliance after graduation.
Parents who spoke at the event commended the university’s management for prioritizing both academic excellence and character development. They urged the matriculating students to remain focused on achieving their goals.
The Vice President of Administration, Dr. Habib Awais Abubakar, administered the matriculation oath to the new students.
