Ogun reaffirms commitment to workers’ welfare, career growth
The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to the welfare and career progression of civil and public servants, emphasising that employees’ motivation and efficient service delivery remain top priorities.
A statement made available to PUNCH Online on Friday stated that the state Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, made this known during the ongoing promotion interview session for public and civil servants in the state.
He noted that Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration had consistently prioritised the welfare of the workforce since assuming office in 2019.
“The administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun since his assumption of office in 2019 has taken the welfare of the entire workforce seriously by implementing policies aimed at enhancing efficient service delivery,” Onasanya stated.
He commended the governor for approving the 2023 and 2024 promotion exercise, describing it as a significant step toward ensuring career advancement for all eligible officers.
“With the approval for the 2023 and 2024 promotion exercise granted by the governor, the stage is now set for the career advancement of all eligible officers towards efficient service delivery,” he said.
Onasanya emphasised that Ogun State’s civil service must uphold the high standards set by its predecessors, ensuring that excellence remains a defining feature of the workforce. He stressed that the government remains flexible and committed to worker motivation.
“The welfare of workers is very key in the scheme of things, and the flexibility of government in this regard cannot be overemphasized. With this conduct, Ogun is up-to-date on promotion matters,” Onasanya added.
He further stated that the promotion process was based on merit, as candidates had to justify their readiness for career advancement.
The Head of Service, who chaired both the Administrative Staff Advisory Council and the Management Committee during the interview sessions, praised Abiodun for his dedication to workers’ welfare. He encouraged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture through diligence, hard work, and commitment to their duties.
“A total of 26,764 civil and public servants spanning junior, senior, and management cadres across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government benefited from the promotion exercise”, he stated.
Some of the candidates expressed their appreciation to the Ogun State Government for the opportunity and pledged their commitment to the administration’s ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda.
