NDLEA Raids Kano Drug Dens, Arrests 18 Suspects

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested 18 suspects and seized various quantities of illicit substances during a raid on drug hotspots across the state.

Spokesman of the command, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Friday in Kano.

Quoting the State Commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, he stated that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the state.

“On Jan. 30, the agency dislodged several notorious drug hotspots located in Fagge Area, Kwarin Kaya, Kofar Wambai, and Kofar Mata.

“The raid at Kwarin Kaya was particularly intense, as some suspects attempted to threaten the officers from a distance.

“Despite this intimidation, the NDLEA remained resolute in its mission, ensuring the operation proceeded without incident,” he said.

He further disclosed that the command recovered significant quantities of illicit substances, including cannabis sativa and rubber solution, along with locally made dangerous weapons.

Reaffirming the agency’s determination to dismantle drug syndicates and curb drug abuse, Idris-Ahmad assured that all individuals involved would be prosecuted.

“The agency is dedicated to prosecuting all individuals involved in drug-related crimes and will continue to conduct operations aimed at securing communities from the dangers posed by substance abuse,” he said.
