My late dad’s slogan inspired EP title — Khingsolo

Afro-soul singer, Opaluwa Solomon, aka Khingsolo, has spoken about his latest Extended Playlist titled, ‘Who Jah Bless.’

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, Khingsolo said it is in memory of his father, whose popular slogan was “who Jah bless.” He added that the EP revolves around the ideas of introspection, self-discovery, and the search for hope in the darkest moments.

“The EP is dedicated to the memory of my dad, whose popular slogan was ‘who Jah bless.’ I drew inspirations for the project from my personal experiences, observations, and emotions, crafting a narrative that explores the human condition,” he said.

Talking about his approach to songwriting and production for the EP, Khingsolo added, “I approached the songwriting process with a focus on storytelling, using my personal experiences and emotions as a starting point. I experimented with different melodies, harmonies, and rhythms to create a cohesive sound.”

The artiste also acknowledged the challenges faced by young and emerging artistes in the competitive music industry. “The biggest challenge is production and promotion,” he stated. “Production is a critical aspect of an artiste’s career as it involves transforming creative ideas into high-quality recordings. However, many artistes struggle with production due to financial constraints and limited access to resources.”

He continued, “Once an artiste has produced a record or song, they must promote it to reach their target audience. This can be daunting for independent artistes who lack the support of a record label.”

To overcome these challenges, he advised that artistes must be proactive and innovative in their approach to production and promotion.
