According to GistLover, Darlington was detained twice in October and November 2024 for ridiculing Burna Boy’s association with the struggling American music entrepreneur Sean Combs, also known as Diddy.

He was jailed at the Kuje Correctional Facility but was released on January 21st, weeks after being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Days following his release, Darlington posted on social media that he barely escaped an assassination after leaving a club in Lagos.

His lawyer, Stan Alieke, declared that he and his law firm would no longer work with the rapper due to the allegations.

Speed Darlington replied that if his lawyer was tired of helping him, he could leave.
