EPL: Tottenham sign Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens, with an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer.
The Austrian international centre-back will wear the number four shirt as he bolsters Spurs’ defensive options for the remainder of the season.
A statement on the club’s website confirmed the move on Sunday.
It read, “We are delighted to announce the signing of Kevin Danso on loan from Ligue 1 side RC Lens, subject to international clearance and a work permit.”
Danso, 25, has built a reputation as a commanding defender across Europe, starting his career in England with Reading and MK Dons before joining FC Augsburg in 2014.
According to the release, he became the Bundesliga club’s youngest-ever player in a league fixture in 2017 and later had loan spells at Southampton and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Since moving to RC Lens in 2021, Danso has been a standout performer, playing 128 games and scoring four goals.
His dominant second season saw him named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year as he helped Lens secure a second-place finish and a spot in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.
On the international stage, Danso has earned 24 caps for Austria since his senior debut in 2017 and featured at Euro 2024.
His arrival at Tottenham is expected to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad as they push for a strong finish to the season.
