REMAPSEN Condemns Killings in DRC, Calls for Peace

The African Media Network for the Promotion of Health and Environment (REMAPSEN) has strongly condemned the recent killings in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and expressed solidarity with those affected by the ongoing clashes.  

In a statement signed by its President, Bamba Youssouf, REMAPSEN expressed deep concern over the heavy loss of human life and the devastating humanitarian consequences of the conflict.

“We cannot overlook the hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries resulting from this barbarity,” stated Bamba Youssouf.

He reaffirmed REMAPSEN’s commitment to promoting health and environmental sustainability while acknowledging the tragic impact of the violence in the DRC, a nation rich in resources.

President Youssouf also extended his thoughts to REMAPSEN colleagues in the DRC who have been directly affected. “Whether at the central, regional, or national levels, we stand with our people,” he emphasized.

Paradigm News reports that the conflict in eastern DRC has led to mass displacements, hundreds of deaths, and thousands of injuries, with various armed groups, including the M23 rebel group, involved in the violence.

REMAPSEN’s stance aligns with the African Union’s efforts to foster peace and stability in the region through initiatives like the Nairobi and Luanda processes, which focus on dialogue and reconciliation among conflicting parties.
