CEFSAN Praises Kano Chief Judge for Strengthening Accountability, Anti-Corruption Efforts

The Public Interest Litigation Group (PILG) of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CEFSAN) has commended the Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, for her transformative leadership and commitment to judicial reforms.

In a letter (Ref: CEFSAN/HR/VOL. III/728) addressed to the Chief Judge and signed by 20 lawyers, the group praised Justice Aboki’s efforts to enhance judicial efficiency, transparency, and accountability since her assumption of office in August 2023.

“An independent assessment conducted by our Research Unit reveals that since your assumption of office as Chief Judge, you have spearheaded transformative reforms aimed at improving judicial efficiency, transparency, discipline, institutional integrity, and staff welfare,” the letter stated.

The group also highlighted her firm stance against corruption and the introduction of reforms that have strengthened public trust in the judiciary.

“Notably, under your stewardship, decisive steps have been taken to combat corruption and foster accountability within the judiciary, ensuring that judicial processes remain credible, impartial, and free from undue influence,” the letter added.

Among the key achievements recognized was the establishment of the Judicial Public Complaints Committee, which PILG/CEFSAN described as “a groundbreaking effort to enhance public confidence in the judiciary—an unprecedented milestone in the history of the Kano State Judiciary.”

The legal advocacy group assured Justice Aboki of its continued support as she leads the judicial sector in Kano State, urging her to remain steadfast in her pursuit of excellence. “Your dedication, diligence, and reform-oriented vision serve as a testament to your commitment to a just and transparent judicial system,” the letter read.
