Ahmad Hamisu Gwale Honored as Kano’s Best Radio Sports Presenter

Ahmad Hamisu Gwale of Premier Radio Kano has been named the Best Radio Sports Presenter of the Year 2024 by the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kano chapter.

The award was presented on Thursday, during the unveiling of the 2024 SWAN Kano calendar at the Kano State NUJ Secretariat.

The event was attended by stakeholders, including Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan, Chairman of the Kano FA; Professor Abdurrashid Garba, Chancellor of KHAIRUN University; Alhaji Isyaku Tofa; and Baba Halilu Dantiye, former Kano State Commissioner for Information.

Mukhtar Adnan, Chairman of SWAN Kano, praised Gwale’s impactful work in investigative sports reporting. “Ahmad Gwale’s work has not only promoted grassroots sports but also uncovered untold stories within Kano’s sports landscape,” Adnan stated. “His commitment to professionalism and excellence is what earned him this prestigious award.”

Gwale expressed his gratitude to SWAN Kano and dedicated the award to his mentors, colleagues, and listeners. “This award is a motivation for me to work even harder in promoting local sports and giving a voice to emerging talents in the industry,” he said.

Gwale, a native of Kano, began his career at Freedom Radio in 2021 before joining Premier Radio 102.7 FM in 2023, where he hosts the program “Zauran Wasanni.” He also serves as the Media Officer for NNL side Barau Football Club.

Former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, commented on Gwale’s achievement: “Seeing a young man achieve such a milestone speaks volumes about his talent and determination. He is a shining example of what young people can accomplish in journalism.”
