The kidnappers of retired Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release.
General Tsiga was abducted on Wednesday night when a group of armed men stormed his residence in Katsina State. The assailants reportedly surrounded the house and began breaking doors, prompting the retired general to step outside and confront them.
Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, a federal lawmaker representing the Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, confirmed the abduction, stating that the attackers took control of the premises before abducting General Tsiga.
Security operatives have initiated a manhunt to track down the kidnappers and secure his release, but there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding their progress.
A source close to the family, who spoke anonymously, told Daily Trust on Friday that the kidnappers had contacted the family, demanding N250 million as ransom.
