CEO bags transport leadership award
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew, has been honoured with an award, ‘Leadership on the Airline in Connecting Africa through Transport.’
A statement by the media consultant to the airline in Nigeria stated that the award was bestowed on Tasew at the Africa Prosperity Champions Awards, held earlier in the month in Accra, Ghana, as part of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025.
According to a statement, the airline boss expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that it was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Ethiopian Airlines team.
He stated that the airline’s mission had always been to connect Africa and facilitate economic growth through seamless air transport.
“This award motivates us to continue our efforts in enhancing connectivity and supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area,” he said.
The ‘Leadership in Connecting Africa through Transport Award’ recognises individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to improving transport infrastructure and connectivity across Africa.
Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its network to over 65 destinations within the continent, modernised its fleet, and invested in state-of-the-art cargo facilities.

The theme for this year’s Africa Prosperity Dialogues, ‘Delivering Africa’s Single Market Through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect, and Integrate,’ the statement said, resonated deeply with Ethiopian Airlines’ mission to create seamless connections that enable the vision of a single African market.
