Sheikh Bin Othman Leaves Jami’ur Rahman, Resumes Duties at Old Kundila Mosque

The Chairman of the Kano Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, has announced the resolution of the leadership dispute at the Sahaba Mosque, with Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman returning to his former mosque in the Kundila quarters.

The conflict arose at the Jami’ur Rahman Friday Mosque between Sheikh Bin Uthman and the mosque’s owner, Alhaji Ado Yahaya, popularly known as A.Y Maikifi.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Sheikh Khalil credited the resolution to the efforts of various security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services (DSS). He stated that Sheikh Bin Uthman had agreed to withdraw from all activities at the Jami’ur Rahman Mosque and return to Masjidil Sahaba, which is located nearby.

“I am happy to inform you that, with the assistance of various security agencies, especially the DSS, we were able to resolve this crisis. Sheikh Bin Uthman has agreed to step away from all activities at the Jami’ur Rahman Friday Mosque completely,” Sheikh Khalil said.

“It was unanimously agreed that he will return to his former Masjidil Sahaba and conduct Friday prayers at a different time from those at the Jami’ur Rahman Mosque. He will not resume this Friday but the following one,” he added.
