40-year-old beaten to death in India

A Nigerian national, Adiyako Masaliyo, was beaten to death on Wednesday following an altercation with another man identified as Yasin Khan over a drug dealing allegation in Bellahalli, Bhagaluru, India.
The Tribune, a reputable online Indian newspaper reported on Friday that Khan accused the Nigerian of being a drug peddler.
According to the report, the police have arrested Khan who worked at a chicken stall.
The police report said 40-year-old Masaliyo came to a local chicken shop with his associate and allegedly behaved suspiciously.
This made Khan and a few locals start questioning him for being a drug peddler, a development which snowballed into a fight.
Following the heated argument, the Nigerian man allegedly assaulted Khan and also grabbed a knife from a nearby chicken shop and threatened to stab him, a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, Khan attacked the Nigerian man with a wooden reaper on his head. The victim suffered severe head injuries and collapsed, the report said.
During an investigation, police did not recover any drugs or suspicious items from the Nigerian national, and on checking crime records, no previous case was found registered against him, he added.
“We have registered a case of murder and arrested the accused,” the officer said.
