Monday nominated for Liga F Feb award

Super Falcons striker Gift Monday is in the running for the February Player of The Month Award in the Spanish women’s top division following her exploits for her club Tenerife, NewsNGR Sports Extra reports.
Monday has been in fine form for Tenerife, powering them to sixth in the table with 10 goals after 19 matches.
The 23-year-old’s form also sees her sitting third in the league’s scoring chart, five goals behind Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor and also two goals behind the second-place Edna Imade.
Other players in the run for the award are Real Madrid’s Alba Redondo, Barcelona’s Caroline Hansen, Ainhoa Marin (Deportivo), Ane Azkona (Bilbao), Ari Mingueza (Granada) and Elba Verges (Eibar).
Monday is playing her third season in Europe and this season has already been registered as her best so far.
Although she fired blanks in their 1-1 draw at home to Eibar last Saturday, Monday has scored in six consecutive games before then.
In her third season in the Spanish women’s topflight after moving from the Nigeria Women’s Football League, the 23-year-old feels she’s getting closer to her peak.
“Right now, I feel like one of the best players in the world because having to compete with some exceptional players from bigger clubs, I feel like I’m getting there gradually and I’m liking the process.”
Monday joined UDG Tenerife in 2022 on a three-year deal from FC Robo.
She recently extended her stay at the club until 2027.
