Ex-Gov Ali Sa’ad: Education Access Must Improve in Jigawa

The first elected governor of Jigawa State, Ali Sa’ad, has urged the state government to establish more schools in remote areas of Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area to ensure access to education for all children.

Speaking on Sunday during the Jigawa State Citizens Engagement Programme in Birnin-Kudu, organized under the administration of Governor Umar Namadi, Mr. Sa’ad expressed concern over the lack of schools in some communities.

“There are remote areas in Birnin-Kudu where children don’t go to school because of the distance between their communities and the schools available in other communities,” he noted.

The former governor also called for the establishment of dispensaries across the state to improve healthcare delivery and ensure citizens benefit from government initiatives. Additionally, he urged the completion of abandoned road projects linking communities to facilitate business growth and ease movement.

Governor Namadi commended the people of Birnin-Kudu for formally documenting their demands and presenting them to the government.

“This local government has broken a record by taking time to document their demands and submit them to us today. We will surely study them and fulfill their wishes,” he assured.

He also encouraged residents to provide feedback on development projects for effective monitoring.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, highlighted the programme’s role in promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

“This programme aims at providing citizens a platform to interact and seek answers to pressing issues from their elected officials,” he explained.

Residents praised the administration for its developmental efforts. Umar Baba acknowledged the governor’s commitment to completing abandoned projects, while Abdulbaki Aminu emphasized the need for more youth empowerment initiatives to tackle unemployment in the area.
