FG restates support for indigenous manufacturers
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting indigenous manufacturers, in a move to bolster local innovation and industrial growth.
The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, made this pledge when he paid a visit to SecureID’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility, “underscoring the administration’s dedication to economic expansion through homegrown technology and production.”
A statement made available to The PUNCH on Monday noted that SecureID, a leading manufacturer of smart cards and digital solutions, has been a key player in Nigeria’s quest for self-reliance in technology and manufacturing.
“As the company marks 20 years of operations, it boasts an impressive capacity to produce over 200 million cards annually and personalise over 160 million smart cards, serving clients in 21 African countries.
During the tour of the facility, the Vice President lauded SecureID’s contributions to Nigeria’s industrial landscape, highlighting the company’s resilience and impact on economic transformation.
“Government is committed to fostering an enabling environment for businesses like SecureID to thrive,” Shettima stated. “Through targeted policies and interventions, we are repositioning Nigeria’s economy to support local innovation, boost foreign exchange earnings, and create employment opportunities.”
SecureID’s founder, Mrs. Kofo Akinkugbe, expressed gratitude for the Vice President’s visit and reiterated the firm’s vision of expansion and global competitiveness.
“We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but this is just the beginning. With the support of the government, we are ready to scale our operations, increase our export potential, and contribute even more to Nigeria’s economic growth,” Akinkugbe said.
