LASG begins consultation on Purple Line Rail project

Officials of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, led by Technical Adviser Planning, Osa Konyeha, have met with some local government officials to intimate them about the upcoming Purple Line rail project.

The stakeholders consulted included the Cchairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, Johnson Babatunde, Chairman of Iba LCDA, Yisa Jubril, and Secretary to Alimosho Local Government, Dare Ogunkoya, who represented the Chairman of the council, Jelili Sulaimon.

According to a Tuesday statement, LAMATA noted that the Purple Line is a 57km rail line, connecting Redemption Camp to Volkswagen and it will feature 17 stations and integrate with Lagos’s existing rail network.

LAMATA’s representatives, including Lead Consultant, Dr. Babatunde Osho, Head of Corporate Communication Kolawole Ojelabi, and Dipo Quadri, conducted the engagement.

“This sensitisation exercise precedes the scoping exercise, a mandatory step in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment before project implementation.

“The local authorities pledged to support LAMATA in the implementation of this impactful project that will change the fortunes of many for the better along the corridor,” the statement said.
