Foundation trains 1,500 Imo women, distributes food items
More than 1,500 women in the Aguneze community in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State have benefitted from free medical care services, legal advice and a marriage counselling programme organized by a humanitarian organization, Loveline Foundation.
The event, which was held at the palace of the community’s traditional ruler, Eze Comos Onyejiji also witnessed the training of 31 women on agro-business and management.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the event, the founder of the foundation, Mrs. Loveline Chukwukere said the programme was designed to encourage and empower the women to live up to their responsibilities as wives, mothers and home builders.
She said, “Women are the strong bone of our homes or families and as such, should be provided with every opportunity, either in the form of skills, empowerment or education to enable them to discharge their responsibilities in their respective homes effectively.”
Chukwukere added,, “This programme is so passionate to me. Aside from being my way of giving back to society and putting smiles on the faces of fellow women, I believe it will help and encourage the beneficiaries to contribute effectively to the sustainability of their respective homes.
“This year’s edition is such an impactful one. It is a clear demonstration of our passion for women’s development. Today, we were able to provide free medical check-ups, free legal advice and free counselling sessions to all the women in the Aguneze community in Ahiazu Mbaise Council Area of Imo State.
“We equally distributed several food items to 1,500 women and also trained 31 of them in agro-business and management in partnership with Women in Agric Business Resource Centre. We believe that when you empower a woman, you have empowered a nation.
