Police Arrest 17 Suspects Over Alleged Attempt to Invade Emir Bayero’s Palace

The Kano State Police Command has foiled an alleged plot to forcibly take over the Nassarawa Palace, the residence of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of 17 suspects accused of orchestrating the planned invasion and attempting to remove the Emir from the palace.

“Following credible intelligence reports about a planned violent protest, the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, deployed personnel and assets to strategic locations across Kano metropolis to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Kiyawa stated.

He further disclosed that the proactive security measures led to the arrest of the suspects, adding that investigations are ongoing to ensure all those involved face justice.

The police command reiterated its warning against any form of unlawful gathering, procession, or violence, stressing that security agencies would respond swiftly and decisively to any threats to public order.

“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. The Command appreciates the cooperation and support of Kano residents in our efforts to maintain peace and stability,” Kiyawa added.
