B’Haram abducts two, loots homes in Borno attack

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Kaleri community in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting two residents and looting homes.

Local sources reported that the armed militants stormed the village in large numbers on Tuesday evening, firing sporadically as residents fled for safety.

The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attack, describing it as a case of abduction.

“Kaleri was attacked. It was a case of abduction by suspected Boko Haram. They stormed a home and kidnapped two persons,” Daso stated.

When asked about police reinforcements, he said, “Reports are still scanty. I will speak with the Divisional Police Officer  and update the public as soon as possible.”

A local resident, who requested anonymity for security reasons, said the terrorists arrived with sophisticated weapons and looted food supplies from multiple homes.

“When they came, they fired shots in the air, causing everyone to flee. Later, we realised that they had kidnapped two people,” the resident recounted.

Another source confirmed that the attackers moved from house to house, searching for food and other valuables before escaping.

“They were many. They looted before leaving,” the source added.

Our correspondent learned that security operatives later cordoned off the area and made some arrests.

However, it remains unclear whether those detained have any links to the attack.

As of the time of this report, the identities of the abducted individuals had not yet been confirmed.
