Kano Governor Sets Final Deadline for 5KM Road Projects Completion

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed contractors handling the 5-kilometer road projects across the state’s 44 local government areas to complete them within five months.  

The Commissioner for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation, Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, disclosed this during an inspection tour in Warawa Local Government Area.

Sumaila stated that a meeting was held between the governor and the contractors, during which they agreed to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.

“The governor personally engaged with the contractors to understand the challenges affecting project execution, and it was agreed that the work would be completed within the stipulated five-month period,” said Sumaila. He added that monitoring visits would be conducted every two weeks to track progress.

During the inspection, Sumaila noted that work in Minjibir was 95% complete, while Warawa and Ungogo stood at 47% and 85%, respectively. He urged contractors in the slower areas to expedite their work.

The commissioner also visited the renovation site of Minjibir General Hospital, calling on the contractor to maintain the pace to ensure timely completion.

The road projects are expected to enhance transportation and boost economic activities in the affected areas.
