Gov. Yusuf’s Brother, Kano NNPP Ulama Join Senator Barau’s APC Bloc

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has received some relatives of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with members of the Kwankwasiyya Ulama Forum and chieftains of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), as they moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among them was the governor’s brother, Mahbub Nuhu Wali, along with Malam Yahaya Abdulkadir Aliyu, Secretary of the Kwankwasiyya Ulama Forum, and 23 executive members of the association.

Senator Barau welcomed them, describing the APC as “the largest party in Africa” and saying he is committed to improving the lives of Kano people.

“The two groups thrashed their red caps, the symbol of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, during their visit to me at the National Assembly on Friday,” Senator Barau said.

After the meeting, the new APC members accompanied him to the A-Class Event Centre, where they joined a coalition of Atiku Abubakar’s support groups from across the 19 Northern States in a defection to the party.

The defections were formalized by the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Two NNPP chieftains from Gwale Local Government Area, Mahmoud Salisu Gwale and Farouk Ahmed Gwale, were also received.

Senator Barau said his political doors remain open to all Nigerians, regardless of party affiliation.

“As the Deputy President of the Senate, I want to emphasise that I’m a Senator for all. Regardless of your political affiliation—whether you are a PDP, LP, Kwankwasiyya, or even APGA member—I am here for you. My doors are open to all. If you wish to join our party, the APC, the people’s party, you are welcome to do so. The more, the merrier!” he said.
